Le Nouvel Ensemble Moderne
Lorraine Vaillancourt, cond.

A cusp is a sharp turn, a point of convergence, or, in the language of calculus, a point on a curve that is continuous but not differentiable. This short piece attempts to take a number of sharp turns without devolving into discontinuity. It was composed on a southern Idaho farm, where morning quail song is infused with sounds of machines marking the encroachment of rural industrial sprawl.
